Part 1
I believe that this theoretical image is the best photograph of the group. I think it not only sends a message about how seriously women take their appearance but it also makes fun of the extent to which they do. This image is considered conceptual. The detail in the image, such as the perfectly painted finger nails, completed eye shadow and eye lashes, drives the message home about external appearance. The image made me think of the phrase "Pain is Beauty" because of the plier being used to pluck her eyebrows. I also enjoy the lighting of the photograph, it shows the perfection of her skin.
The most challenging aspect of the assignment:
The most challenging aspect of the assignment was finding an original image that really spoke to me. I liked the theoretical category of the assignment the most because it makes fun of different topics. Initially i thought theoretically images could only be something with a double exposure, or something abstract. I learned to look at theoretical images through the conceptual side and found that I enjoyed it much more.
What I will do in the future to create stronger images:
To create stronger images in the future I think it would be best to really think about the message behind the photo. What I learned the most with this assignment was that every picture can send a message depending on the values and thoughts of the viewer. To create more powerful images, I should view the subject in multiple ways as to understand how my spectator will look at my picture.
